Biography Charles Fayette McGlashan was born in Wisconsin in 1847 and came overland with his father and sisters, arriving at Placerville in September 1854. Albert Koebele (1853-1925) was on February 28, 1853, in Germany. He came to the United States in 1880. He was credited for being the one of the first entomologists to introduce beneficial insects to combat insect pests.
